Etymology
À ras = to the brim. Even though ‘bol’ does mean bowl, in old French ‘pot’, ‘bowl’, and ‘backside’ were synonyms… Since the 1960s, ‘avoir du bol’ or ‘avoir un coup de bol’ mean to be lucky, and all have to do with backsides.
