Be a 2%er! Or how an ADHDer takes notes…

I was sent on a training which might sound somewhat unusual: The Art of Being Brilliant. The idea brought a wry smile to our slightly cynical and smug faces; a talk about being brilliant and teaching kids to be brilliant? That’s what we do every day!

The focus became very clear: according to Dr Andy Cope’s PhD research, only 2% of the population fall into the category of feeling consistently great. The reason? Intentional positivity. This made us groan quietly. How does this help us do our jobs, we’re a fairly positive bunch, we thought. And yet…

I found myself making notes, colourful ones, and being genuinely interested in the evidence-based suggestions we were given. No toxic positivity here, despite how some of the quotes on the graphic might look out of context. Solid, realistic ideas that take into account daily life and its stresses.

Do I put everything I learned into practice every single day? Absolutely not. Does it pop into my head once in a while, and help me turn things around? More than 2% of the time!
