Literal Translation
There’s no photo
Actual Meaning
It’s obvious, there’s no doubt
Etymology
The expression originated recently, in the 1980s, in the world of horse racing. Punters sometimes have to wait for the race results to be verified using a photo finish before they know the names of the winning horses. When there is “no photo”, it means that there is a clear gap between the main group of runners and the winner, who is not in doubt.
