After completing my MMus performance (singing specialism), I unfortunately experienced some severe vocal health issues, including nodules. While that experience was frightening, isolating, and identity-threatening, I am proud to say I have now passed my Vocal Health First Aider qualification with Vocal Health Education, an accredited CPD provider.
The course was extremely thorough, went into a lot of depth regarding functional anatomy, mental health impacts of voice issues (and vice versa!), and gave me the confidence to use my own experience to try to help other singers not only deal with issues as they arise, but hopefully to work with choirs and singers on prevention and good vocal hygiene.
